Viva Las Vegas

What do you do when you're trying to find flights to Utah and there aren't any good options?

You change up your plans to fly into a different airport and manage to see another new state and some famous landmarks in the process!

That's the short story of how we ended up visiting Las Vegas- a first for us.

Since we had never been before, we wanted to stay somewhere fancy in the middle of the Strip. We chose Caesar's Palace because of the location and because it looked like the nicest hotel that could fit into our budget.

Traveling went very smoothly until we landed in Vegas. By then we had a very tired baby and we were tired of lugging all of the luggage that accompanied said baby. We learned an important lesson: never arrive in a party city on a Saturday night.

After waiting forever for the shuttle to get to our rental car, we hit a ton of traffic near our hotel. We circled the hotel and parking lot for at least an hour, at which point David had to bribe the valet people to park our car somewhere only hotel members were supposed to park.

Thankfully it worked... but then we spent another eternity getting lost trying to find the reception desk and then our room. By the time we found the right elevator, I was almost in tears because I felt so terrible that Magnolia just wanted to go to bed and hadn't been able to.

Of course, our angel of a baby didn't cry, despite not getting to bed until about 8 hours later than usual. I'm much more of a baby than she is.

The next morning, the hotel was much more beautiful and enjoyable after some rest.

We explored our hotel for a bit before venturing outside to see the Bellagio...

...and Paris hotels.

Magnolia even managed to gamble before getting kicked out by security for being underage. ;)

After nap time, we went back out and saw the huge mall attached to Caesar's Palace. The sheer size of these buildings is so impressive! You could spend days never leaving the hotel and never getting bored.

To get some more of fake Europe, we also visited the Venetian. I think this one was our favorite.

So anyways, that's what people who don't drink or gamble do in Vegas. Walk through the pretty hotels haha.

We would have also liked to try more of Vegas' many restaurants, but we learned that a 10 month old can either be patient in her stroller for sightseeing or eating: not both. Thankfully our hotel had plenty of options for takeout and room service; we were still well fed!

I would have also liked to do some shopping, but in that case both the husband and the baby lacked the necessary patience. Not to mention that we spent all of our extra money for the year on travel (which I am fully content with).

Las Vegas is so impressive and has a ton to do! With only one full day to spend there, we barely scratched the surface.

Although it was great, I wouldn't be myself if I didn't conclude by telling you to, if at all possible, GO TO REAL EUROPE. At the very least, hotels and food are cheaper. And the culture and history are real. ;)
