Family Fun in New Orleans

After a few days of getting to know New Orleans, it was time to hop on one of the historic streetcars and go see the Garden District. Magnolia was very entertained, and still talks about our ride!

Beautiful mansions are one of my favorite things about visiting the south. We walked down the lovely Prytania Street and definitely got our fill.

A fun stop along the way was The Rink- a former skating rink converted into a cute mall. The 3 adults took turns wrangling the babies so we could each pick out a book in the bookstore.

After lots of walking and exploring, we had one of our favorite meals of the trip at Ruby Slipper on Magazine St.

On the way back to the streetcar station we stopped by Sandra Bullock's house and Magnolia got to see several magnolia trees.

The pretty houses were for the adults, but the zoo was for our toddler!

Somehow she's never been to the Milwaukee Zoo, so it was about time that she had the chance to visit one. She loves learning about animals, and we knew it would blow her mind to see some in person.

Every time she saw an animal, she did the "more" sign and then took off running to the next one. She was too excited to talk! I could hardly get pictures because she hardly stayed still. Her tiny legs carried her all through the zoo.

The zoo tired everyone out, but afterwards David and I dragged our sore feet and Rosalie in her stroller over to the WWII Museum while Maggie napped.

We were a little worried that history would repeat itself. On our Texas trip when Magnolia was about the same age, we attempted to visit the Pacific War Museum. Poor baby was overtired and NOT having it. We saw approximately 2% of the museum.

Thankfully, little Rosie was a trooper and happily slept in her stroller throughout the museum. Texas was our first trip with a baby, and we've since learned more about pacing while traveling with kids to make it more doable.

It was one of the best museums I've ever been to- so glad we made it! It made our history nerd selves happy.

Our last New Orleans stop was Mardi Gras World- a warehouse where many of the famous parade floats are created. We did a tour and were able to see how they make them- plus a ton of completed props.

After learning more about it, we all want to come back for Mardi Gras someday! A bientot, New Orleans- we loved exploring a new place.
