Best Month EVER

No, not this month. May 2019 has mostly consisted of working and other various boring adult activities.

But 2 years ago- May 2017, was one of the best months of my life. We were able to travel on every single weekend and really get the most out of living in France.

Our first trip was 4 hours west, to the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne

This city had been on my bucket list for a while and it did not disappoint my I'm-a-princess-on-the-inside heart.

Before heading home as planned the next day, we went an hour out of our way to the city of Albi on a whim.

It was delightful and full of history, including an incredibly unique and colorful cathedral.

The next weekend, we went on a "tax return-funded" trip to Versailles

We spent one day touring the chateau, one day in the gardens, and one visiting the brand new temple. That left us with just enough time to enjoy a spring walk from the Marais to the Tuileries before flying home.

I was thrilled to reunite with my family the next week in Switzerland! David's aunt and uncle hosted a wedding open house for us in the Geneva area. We had the chance to enjoy some Swiss sightseeing in addition to spending time with family.

I got to celebrate my birthday at the lovely Château de Chillon.

Back on the Riviera, I showed my family around Cannes, mid-film festival. We also drove to Monaco to glimpse even more glamour. Highlight: eating at the restaurant in the Casino de Monte Carlo and not feeling classy enough to fit in.

For the epic conclusion of our family vacation, we drove to Italy for the last weekend in May.

I was inspired by the art and architecture in Florence,

by the Duomo and the pizza in Siena,

and by just about everything in Venice.

After this month, we needed a vacation from our vacations. :)

Life is obviously quite different now. I will always love travel and can't wait to see more of the world someday- even if it's not every weekend.
